Circl-Ed Elephant

The challenge at Craft Your Passion this week is CAS (Clean & Simple). We have the fabulous Bugaboo Stamps as our sponsor.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

I think I’ve gone about as CAS as can be with my card.I’ve used the wonderful Edward Elephant – Happy Birthday. He is actually found in the Gift Tags section at Bugaboo Stamps.First I digitally paper pieced the background with a paper from the Swiss Dots III collection by Floppy Latte Designs using PSE 8.Then using MyVerse Editor Plus I chose a template for the size of card I wanted. This is really for making inserts but it takes the hard work out of creating your own base card templates 🙂 Once printed onto some leather textured card, which I thought would look good with the ele image, and trimmed to size I filled in the rest of the image with Copic Ciao Markers.I deliberately went for some bright ,contrasting colours.Well that’s it,nothing else…..:D

Sparkling with in-tent!

At Craft Your Passion this week the theme is Die Cuts and/or Punches. We have Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps and Simon Says Stamp!  as our fab sponsors too!Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

For my card I’ve used Lil Trumpeteer by Floppy Latte Designs  available at Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps. He looks like he’s heralding in the Spring.I wanted to create a ‘caught in crystal’ effect. The trouble is inkjet printable acetate is ridged on one side to give a key for the ink.So I flipped the image so that I could allow the smooth side of the acetate to be face out on the window aperture I’d cut in my card. Now because the gloss medium I wanted to apply is water based I knew I couldn’t use it on the printed image as it would run into an icky mess.So that’s where another piece of acetate came in.I scribbled some gloss over it,not getting to close to the edges, then sprinkled some mica powders and Glamour Dust about.I used yet another piece of acetate to smoosh it around a bit (I’ve saved that  for another day).Once dry I backed the image with it.The day before my copy of Cardmaking and Papercraft dropped onto my doormat with these gorgeous papers and matching chipboards. The butterfly and flowers in the corner have been coated in Glamour Dust.Icut the flowers from one of the sheets too and lined the inside of my card with a bright green one.I got to use my lovely new swirly die that I picked up rather reasonably reduced price at my local craft warehouse 🙂 I stamped the greeting onto the chipboard piece and completed the card with some grosgrain ribbon and pearls.

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Show Us Your Layers. We have the fabulous Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps as our sponsor. For full details on how to play pop along to the challenge blog.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT and GDT’s wonderful work.

For my card I’ve used Floppy Latte Designs Tea Time Stacked Teacups coloured with Gioconda Soft Pastel Pencils and edged with Antique Linen Distress Ink.I’ve used the Tim Holtz Paper Distresser around the edges and  coated the whole piece in Crackle Accents with more ink rubbed into the cracks one it was dry.The papers are all Floppy Latte Designs Swiss Dots Digital Paper Pack Set 3 and have had Distress Ink and the paper distresser used on them.I managed to use every paper in the set and with this many layers I thought a Shabby Chic look would be perfect.I’ve added pearls, ribbon,a gold charm toned down with Umber ProMarker and lilac jute ribbon. The doily and flowers were cut using dies from the same set.
