Hitting the books?It’s a Cinch!

The challenge at Crafty Sentiments this week is Back to School.Drop on by to join in the fun and be in with the chance of winning a super prize.Don’t forget to take a look at some fabulous inspiration by the talented DT while you’re there.

I’ve combined Hitting the Book with Stairs and Books by Crafty Sentiments Designs. All coloured up with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers. Some 3D Crystal Lacquer has been applied to the lenses on her glasses and for once you can see where the camera has picked up the shine 🙂 I decide to pull out my Cinch and make a 5″ x 7″ notebook from scratch!!Very ashamed to say that when I dragged it out from the back of the cupboard the dispatch year was 2010!I’ve only used it twice before too.Really going to have make more use of it as it’s a great tool…but then I say that about everything…perhaps I buy too much craft stuff.Nah!That could never be 😉 The covers are made from a kraft card that is nice and sturdy.I wanted to use up some bits and pieces from my craft stash so pulled out these paper scraps along with some self adhesive fabric to die cut for the floral scalloped border and a journaling card all from the same collection.Following the trend to make some use of craft stash that was hanging around I grabbed some glittery paper,a self adhesive border (wasn’t quite long enough so cut it in half and placed behind the image) and some sparkly flowers. The creative words I made on my Dymo Embossing Labelmaker.I love the interchangeable wheels on this one 🙂 Another tool I need to make more use of : P The wire has been decorated with some ribbons to match the papers and image. This is for my DD2 who starts 6th Form next month. It can sit on her desk so she can jot down any ideas or draw in it when she has time. It’s far too nice to be crammed in a bag!

At Craft Your Passion the challenges are Always Anything Goes!We have the fabulous Bugaboo Stamps as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

I coloured up Video Game Guy by Bugaboo Stamps with Copic Ciao Markers and added in some white gel pen hightlights.I was lucky to find these papers in an after Christmas sale at my local craft warehouse.I just knew they’d come in handy! The red spotty bracket piece and orange star border are die cuts from the same pad.I dug out some lime coloured card to coordinate with it and added a sprinkling of star brads. The sentiment I made using my Dymo Embossing Labelmaker. This one is quite fancy in the fact that it has interchangeable wheels with different fonts and punctuation marks.BUT it wasn’t until I started clicking away that I realised there wasn’t an apostrophe.Oooops….hence the asterisk or little star I prefer to call it.It ties in better with the card that way 😛

After having my 13-year-old son at home last week for half-term this seems quite apt!Mind you, this is for his Birthday…in December!Nothing like being prepared 😀

Merry Kiss-mas

It’s the first Saturday of the month so that means the start of a new challenge at Just Some Lines. The theme is Christmas or Winter. To play along you need to use a Just Some Lines image to enter and you could win a fantastic digi stamp if you’re picked as part of the Top 3!

Aren’t they just the sweetest couple?!You can find Eskimo Kiss at Just Some Lines. So I’ve gone for my Christmas signature style card again.Just to keep them uniform you understand,I mean it’s not like I’ve left it to the last minute or anything 😉 I’ve printed these cuties onto the kraft card base and coloured them with Polychromos Pencils blended out with low odour oils thinners using paper stumps.Their buttons and the snowfall have been given a crisp white look with a gel pen. Some Polar White Flower Soft has been added for some fluffy texture on the trims on their clothing.Couple of strips of washi tape have been adhered down the left edge and a snowflake die cut from some shimmery textured card ,topped with a brad, has been placed on top of that.I got my Dymo Labelmaker out as I haven’t had a play with it for a little while to create the sentiment.I’m going to give this to my DH 🙂

For my card I’ve used the delightful Just Ducky by Robyn’s Fetish Digital Stamps And More printed onto watercolour card and then coloured with Whispers Brush Markers.I made a card base of kraft punched with a Martha Stewart PATP set plus a matching mat for the topper.I’ve layered some floral paper and green card onto the base then added some cotton twill topped with a baker’s twine tied button.I die cut a couple of clouds and tucked my Dymo Labelmaker created sentiment under the edge of the larger one. These cards are fun to make and although effective come together very easily 🙂

For my card I’ve used the adorable Monster Balloon Digital Stamp  by 2 Cute Ink and coloured him with ProMarkers. His balloon has given a coating of Glossy Accents.I’ve layered up various papers from the Kars Vector paper pad.I turn to this pad time and time again for male themed cards. You can just pick out that the one behind the monster is glittered too.I chose some green cardstock to coordinate and a few brads to match.Metal embellishments just seem so right on masculine cards 🙂 The sentiment has been made on my Dymo Labelmaker using a plain bold font this time, then cut into banner shapes.Love this little gadget 😀 This card is for my DH from my youngest son.

Tag!Ouch,you’re it!

jsldt2ndmar 001 copy

Just a reminder that the Create a Tag challenge at Just Some Lines  is still open. You could be in the running for a super prize. You need play along with a Just Some Lines image  to enter and one random winner will get 4 digi stamps of their choice. It doesn’t stop there tho’ as the Top 3 will get one digi stamp each too! There is a freebie to get you started too or you can choose one from Just Some Lines here.

For my tag I’ve used the sweetest Little hedgehog by Just Some Lines and coloured him with Polychromos pencils, blending the sky and grass with low odour oils thinners. The tag itself has been cut and created from an Ornate Frame die using this rather lovely corrugated card.I matted it with some pretty glittered First Edition paper 🙂 The hedgehog was cut fom another die in the set then trimmed down partly to suit the shape of the image and also so that the paper was still allowed to show.I hand cut the layer he is sitting on as I wanted to add just a little definition to him.I dug out a variety of metal embellishments to tone in with the pale aqua card.I tied some paper raffia through the top and flattened some more out to die cut two flowers.I offset them slightly before adding the brad.I love that this stuff has a mind of it’s own so that it tries to curl back up and gives a nice shabby(ish) effect.Of course I had to play with my new Dymo again 😀

Supplies :

Some friendly bann(t)er

cypdt25thfeb 001

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Banners. We have the fabulous Birdie Brown as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

For my card I’ve used Be My Friend by Birdie Brown.Aren’t they just the cutest?!They’ve been coloured with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers with some 3D Crystal Lacquer to enhance those beautiful, big eyes.I hand cut the banners then punched some tiny holes before threading them with some jute twine.I threaded some sweet wooden buttons onto the ends.I’ve used a selection of gorgeous Boho Chic papers to go with the little bunnies, the light woodgrain is the reverse of the one in the background and provides a nice contrast I think. The burnt orange card is some I had luckily tucked away in my stash 🙂 I distressed and tore the edges to keep in with a countryside feel. The sentiment was created in my brand new, shiny toy…a Dymo Embossing Labelmaker!I remember these being so popular when I was and kid and how totally jealous I was that my brother got one for Christmas.I’ve always admired them on others papercraft projects too.Thinking how outdated these were compared to today’s technology I thought I’d pick one up fairly cheaply…WRONG!Oh my,even on that well know auction site the most basic still seemed pricey to me…until I found this baby…

cypdt25thfeb 002

It came with interchangeable wheels with different fonts/numbers.The pink one sitting in the machine even has some cute icons 🙂 Plus you get this lanyard so you can wear it around your neck…thinking Medallion Man here 😉 I may be labeling everything that doesn’t move. My doggy better look out – she’s pretty lazy!
