For my card I’ve used Frog and Watering Can from CoCo Dingo.Because this card is cut from Nestabilities Labels 1 it’s quite a dinky card the image is quite small so I used Polychromos Pencils to colour the image. To finish the card I used a Martha Stewart Flower Stamp and Punch with some threaded buttons in the centres.

Seams sew pretty

The theme for this weeks challenge at Craft Your Passion is MONOCHROMATIC.The colour choice is yours –  just create away in your chosen tones.

For rules on how to play click on the link. You could also become the proud owner of some free digital stamps if you’re chosen as the winner! There’s some beautiful inspiration from the DT and GDT.If you’d like to join us as a guest please look under the Followers at the top of the page.

For my card I’ve used the Couture image from CoCoDingo, coloured it with Promarkers and applied  Distress Inks around the edges. I then coated the whole image in a fairly thick layer of Crackle Accents.Because this is quite a decent area to cover I gently spread it out with a plastic glue spreader – you know the type kiddies use (what that says about me I don’t know?!).As this isn’t as thick as Glossy Accents it tends to dry flatter and with the crackle effect it doesn’t really show any drag marks.Once it was dry I sponged some Antique Linen Distress Ink into the cracks then buffed off the excess with a soft tissue.Wish I’d taken a close up pic but too late I’ve posted it now!I just love these Papermania Persimmon papers and I got it at a discount too – so even better!I thought there would be nothing better to finish this off than with some threaded buttons, lace, pins and a sewing label. This is actually part of a free printable set from Craft Stamper Magazine. There are lots of other Vintage Downloads too.Just click on Resources and then Vintage Downloads.

Supplies :

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend

The challenge this week at Craft Your Passion is to make a DIAMOND FOLD CARD.This style of card is so much fun and they are actually quite easy to make – well, they’ve got to be if I can make one!As with any folding technique it’s just a case of being as accurate as you can and creating sharp creases. It also folds flat to a 4″ x 4″ square so it fits in an envelope beautifully.

In  case you are unfamiliar with these or you’ve never thought you could attempt one I prepared a tutorial for our DT and any challenge entrants to follow :

DIAMOND FOLD CARD TUTORIAL

There, you have no excuse not to now!!

If you’re not sure about any of the steps feel free to ask me a question and I’ll do my best to answer it.

Of,course this is just one type. There are others,so if you know any feel free to enter those too.BUT it must be a FOLD not just diamond shaped pieces of card on a regular card base.

For details on how to win some fabulous digi stamps and how to play along please click on the link to the challenge site. Please take the time to have  a look at the DT and GDT’s amazing creations too.You could also become a GDT too.Just click on the link under the Followers.

My card base is created from a sheet of cardstock from the DCWV Old World stack .I coveted this for a long while and was lucky enough to find it half price. That was almost a year ago and I can’t bear to use it!!I’m so glad I did for this tho’.It compliments this sweet Choupintette Swing image from CoCo Dingo Digital Stamps perfectly.I used a square topper but you could mat and layer diamond pieces.I chose not to because I’m rubbish at cutting the angles right!!There,my secret is out – it wasn’t some kind of clever design plan after all.

Supplies :
Image : Choupinette Swing from CoCo Dingo Digital Stamps
Mediums : Promarkers ,Bundle Sage Distress Ink (applied with a piece cut from the non green  side of a pan scouring sponge to give a textured finish)
Cardstock : Patterned base DCWV  12 x 12 Old World stack,Pale blue Papermania A4 Capsule Textured Colossal pack
Tools : X-Cut guillotine,X-Cut metal ruler,Woodware bone folder,A3 cutting mat,pencil and eraser
Embellishments : Length of white satin ribbon coloured with Promarkers to match,Gems from  the Crafts Too Cool Series Acrylic Stones Gem Wheel

OSAAT : Your Fave Colour (mine’s more of a combo.Just love blue & green tho’ they never should be seen!I’m like that – he,he!)
Top Tip Tuesday : Use an image/sentiment
** My Top Tip is actually contained in my Diamond Fold Card Tutorial. When creating a fold without using a score board place a metal ruler where you want it to be,use the grid on your cutting mat to make sure everything’s straight, then fold the card in towards the edge of the ruler. To make a really sharp crease use a bone folder, checking that all edges are lined up first. This should give you perfect results every time.**

Handbags and Gladrags

Over at Craft Your Passion this week it’s ANYTHING GOES.Go on go wild and get creative!!There’s also some digi stamps waiting for one lucky winner. Why not pay us a visit to check out the rules and play along. There’s loads of inspiration from the DT’s wonderful creations too.

I thought I’d have some fun with this Sacoche image from CoCo Dingo Digital Stamps.I bought a pack of card with animal prints a while back to use with some animal stamps I had but never got round to it ( as per usual – so many ideas so little time!).It also made a change from reaching for the Promarkers.Plus animal prints are big in fashion at this season.I have to admit I don’t wear them myself.Personally I think they look far more beautiful on the animals nature graced them with.In fact the only animal print clothes I’ve ever worn were a pair of leopard spot jeans I found after seeing the girl in Michael Jackson’s Thriller video wearing them.I don’t thimk I looked as good as her tho’!!Er…anyway back to the card.Because the card is glossy I embossed it with black detail powder as soon as it came out of the printer. Not only beacause it would’ve taken an age for the ink to dry but to define the outline. It also acted as a reservoir to contain the glue before the glitter was added and a white paint pen I used on the flower on the front of the bag.I also paper pieced it using foam pads for more dimension.

It’s a bit OTT glam and I really can’t imagine who on Earth I could really give this to.I just wanted to play around and have fun!

This also reminds me of the theme from The Office  – an incedibly funny programme starring Ricky Gervais.Oh and the Stereophonics version of the song.Hence the title.

Supplies :

Hats Crafty!

At Craft Your Passion there’s a colour challenge going on.We’d love to see your ORANGE PURPLE BLACK creations – it doesn’t even have to be Halloween either! So click on the link to play along, find more details and take a look at the DT’s beautiful work! And don’t forget there’s a prize for one lucky person!

I decided to make a non-Halloween card using the colours. This Hat Dots image from CoCo Dingo Didgital Stamps just seemed ideal for this.I used Promarkers to add shading and depth and decoupaged just the bow for more dimension.I did use an Orange Atyou Spica Copic on the bow and dots but it doesn’t show up in the pic.The gems were originally lilac and were too pale so I coloured them with Plum Promarker.I also thought the Cuttlebug Seeing Spots embossing folder would be pretty appropriate too.

Supplies :
Image : Hat Dots from CoCo Dingo Digital Stamps
Sentiment:Personal Impressions Cute Character Set 2
Mediums :Promarkers,Atyou Spica Copic,Dusty Concord Distress Ink
Card & Paper : K & Co DP,Dovecraft Designer Paper Pack,Black card from stash

Purplicious Delicious!

This week at Craft Your Passion it’s all about technique. We’d love to see some CRIMPLED PAPER .Screw it up in a ball, run it through a ribbler, add some ink or colour, use DP,get as messy or stay as clean as you like,do anything- the choice is yours.Plus it’s so much fun!!There’s the chance to win some fab digi images too!!Pop along to play along and gain some inspiration from the wonderful DT creations.Although we want you to have fun PLEASE read and abide by the few rules we have (they’re in the sidebar plus a reminder of  one in the challenge post).

I got to play with this sassy little lady – she goes by the name of  Rockette sexy and can be found at CoCo Dingo Digital Stamps.I made this card for my DD1 who’s Birthday is coming up this month. So it made a lot of sense to go purple as it’s one of her favourite colours.Being a total mucky pup I decided to get out my Moon Shadow spray inks. They are made up of walnut ink with added mica powder. They don’t look much when wet but once they start to dry the shimmer really shows.I started with a piece of normal copy paper and gave it a liberal dousing with the ink then screwed it up in a ball- just like that!I uncurled it whilst still wet being careful not to tear it and left it to dry.I think this technique really lends itself to these inks as the mica tends to gather at the creases.A few words of warning tho’.These are great to work with but can stain.I used mine in the kitchen on a plastic sheet, wore rubber gloves and mopped up any mist that escaped immediately and you definitely don’t want to be wearing your best clothes!

So maybe you CAN make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear!(Sorry if you not familiar with the phrase).I even had enough left over to make a crumpled flower.I found a great tutorial by accident here.I did make a few changes tho’.I only used a 1  1/2″ plain circle punch,6 layers and a small brad.

Supplies :
Image : Roxette sexy by CoCo Dingo Digital Stamps
Sentiment : Anytime Messages  Clear Stamp Set by Hero Arts
Paper & Card : Core’dinations Gemstones,Plain copy paper
Tools : X-cut guillotine,Tim Holtz Paper Distresser,1 1/2″ Circle Punch,Pokey/Piercing Tool,Cuttlebug Kassie’s Brocade 5″ x7″ embossing folder,Sizzix Big Shot
