Here’s the oh-so-sweet Nurse Nancy by Digital Delights by Louby Loo to give you some TLC…mind you I could do with some myself. How do you manage to get the ‘flu in July?!The weather’s not been that Summery yet,I suppose.Anyway…she’s been coloured with Copic Ciao Markers then fussy cut. There is strip of real bandage running vertically behind her and I found these cute heart buttons in my stash. The sentiment has been cut from a sheet of paper in the pack.

Here we have the fantastic Rocket Dog -Digi Stamp by  QKR Stampede  reaching for the stars. He’s been coloured with Copic Ciao Markers with dots of silver gel pen on the rivets on both the rocket and his collar. The stars have been coated with Frosted Lace Stickles for some subtle sparkle rather than all out girly glitz. Of course, apart from loving dogs (especially my girl ) they are my favourite make of boots so for me he was the ultimate choice 🙂 Also this will be for my DS2’s Birthday in September.Gotta stay ahead!!Plus he’s pretty enamoured with dogs too – don’t know where he’s got that from 😉 Glad I found these papers. They’re just great for masculine projects and I like the colour palette too. There’s a nifty woodgrain pattern and a couple of florals thrown in as well 🙂 Some die cut stars wound with silver cord and some eyelets to go with the rivet theme have been added to embellish.

We have a sketch for you at Craft Your Passion.Plus we the fabulous Delicious Doodles  and The Charm Barn as our sponsor. So head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

Here’s the sketch :

For my card I’ve used the beautiful Steampunk Fairy from Delicious Doodles and coloured her with ProMarkers and her jewellery with a glitter pen.I used some Ultra Fine Nibs for the more detailed areas.I’ve made her a fIame-haired beauty to lift the brown.I distressed around her with ink leaving a glow of white around her.The backing paper I chose from my coveted Old World Stack as I thought it would go well with her. She’s honored – I don’t give this away freely!!I dry embossed a panel with cogs. Then die cut some more cogs and a bookplate and heat embossed these using a couple of thin layers of powder, sprinkling a lighter shade as I went to give a pitted, old metal feel rather than the glossy, smooth finish you usually get. A plain cog has been added behind her. Some ‘hardware’ has been added in the form of screw top brads (love these!),chain and a couple of charms, darkened with ProMarker.

*This is my first attempt at this style and my own interpretation of it.I had a lot of fun and creative time making this.Any die-hard Steampunkers out there please be kind if I haven’t captured the whole essence of it!*

Supplies :

Here’s a closer view. You may be able to detect the added sparkle (?)

Cat’s Lucky!

Well,it’s Monday so it’s time for a new challenge at Pear Tree Designs. This week we want to see your GOOD LUCK  cards/projects.So the words GOOD LUCK must be visible somewhere.

We also have THE CHARACTER CAFE as our sponsor and the winner will get $10 Gift Certificate as their fantastic prize to spend in their store!!They have some beautiful images. So head on over to join in the fun but PLEASE check out the rules in both the sidebar and challenge post.Take a peep at the brilliant DT samples while you’re there and maybe welcome our newest member Karla!

For my card I’ve used a Lucky Cat or his proper name Maneki Neko. He’s from Banana Frog’s Kawaii Kokeshi set.I’d already done my homework on these little cuties before and found apart from the traditional ones you mostly see they do come in different colours/designs.So I thought I’d go with these colours to compliment the papers.I’ve also added pearls as they are seen in many cultures as a symbol of good luck.Apart from that that are just so pretty!

Supplies :

A little bird told me…

…It’s time to Celebrate!

Inside the card.I think you can tell from the colours I’m finding it hard to let go of Summer!!Maybe it’s because here in the U.K. we didn’t really have one!

The challenge for this week at Pear Tree Designs is CELEBRATION!So whether it’s a Birthday,Wedding,Anniversary,New Baby or any reason to think of to celebrate we’d love to see you card/project!!We have a fabulous sponsor too.Robyn’s Fetish Digital Stamps And More  are offering the phenomenal prize of 5 digital stamps or paper sets!!With all that on offer you’ve no excuse not to play along!!For the rules and see the fantastic DT samples please click on the link above.

I’ve used A Little Birdie Told Me  from Robyn’s Fetish Digital Stamps And More and coloured it with Promarkers.Inside I’ve used a resized (love how you can do this with digis) version of the image and cut out just the birdie. It’s sooo tweet!!Hee hee.I just couldn’t resist using the freebie from Craft Stamper magazine again!(the frame has been coloured with Promarkers)I’ve also used a dot of Glossy Accents on the eyes and some Diamond Stickles on the flowers and frame of the word stamp. The other wording has been created on the computer and printed straight onto the DPs.I’ve made the flowers myself using a mix of the daisy element on the Cuttlebug OliviaAlphabet Die and a Craft Tonic flower punch with same DPs as on the card.I’ve used a fine liner pen to create faux stitching to make it look as if the two pieces have been sewn together on the band across the card. The ribbon which was originally cream has been coloured to match with Promarkers. It’s a great way to get a perfect match to your project and it saves money as you can buy more reasonably priced rolls in cream or white.Although I have a tendency to spend far too much on crafty goodies I do try very hard to snatch a few pennies back!

Supplies :
Image : Robyn’s Fetish Digital Stamps And More  A Little Birdie Told Me

It’s SKETCH time at Craft Your Passion this week! And here it is :

I love the layered elements and found it a joy to work with. For more details head on over by clicking the link. You’ll see the fabulous cards made by my fellow DT too!

I’ve used Choupinou Skating by CoCo Dingo and I love the movement in this image.I also used the ‘Out-of the-box’ technique when cutting him out.I decided to lay off the Promarkers for a change and used Polychromos pencils instead.I blended them with low odour thinners intended for use with oil paints as they are oil based rather than wax like children’s colouring pencils. And being a bit of a cheap skate I dipped a cheap cotton bud (the cheaper the better I say as they don’t have much cotton on the tip so don’t soak the liquid up) into it rather than a more expensive paper stump.I love this sentiment stamp and it’s already proved very useful. It’s a freebie from October’s issue of Craft Stamper magazine designed by Bev Fletcher of Banana Frog fame.I have to confess I made up the rest of the card and had to wait ’til I got my hands on a copy!

Supplies :
Image : Choupinou Skating by CoCo Dingo

Diorama Queen!

I had to make a card for my son’s friend and I’ve been wanting to make one of these for ages.I knew straight away I was going to use these fab Retro Space stamps by Banana Frog.I LOVE ’em.I created the layers of the diorama card ( I changed the measurements slightly ) first using some silver corrugated  and blue leather effect card I’ve had for years in my stash – honestly! The DP is K&Co.Then I heat embossed all the elements for the card. The spaceships are coloured using Promarkers.Next I assembled the card and then adhered the cut out spaceships to some acetate strips, decided where abouts they should go and then stuck them into place.I cut out the star and sentiment then glued them onto the front of the card.

Hey presto! One boy’s card that looks quite complicated but in fact was quite easy and didn’t take much time. That’s exactly how I like to make them!

This is an entry for :

Cute Card Thursday : Boyz to Men

My time to craft : Stars and swirls

Pile it on : Boyish colours

Sophisticat : Card for a child

Stamp Something : Birthday Something

Stampin’ for the Weekend : A card for a male

We’re off to Button Moon!

DT member Rosie set the Sketchie Challenge on the Let’s Get Stamping group at Craftbubble last week. The twist was ‘Boys and Buttons’.

This is the sketch:

I started by embossing the base card with the D’vine swirls Cuttlebug folder.Next I matted a piece of K & Co paper – which I thought looked like stars in the night sky  – onto a piece of dark navy card.I created the porthole in the same way as you construct a shaker for  a card. I cut some silver mirror board (although it shows dark in the photo) using Large Circles Nestabilities and embellished it with brads to simulate rivets.I then stamped the back piece with some stamps from the Retro Space set by Banana Frog in Cat’s Eye Silver Pigment ink onto more of the same card.I stamped one of the space ships from the same set using Paris Dusk Memento ink and coloured with Promarkers ,including the Metallic Silver one, and a Silver Copic Atyou Spica glitter pen.Rather than give away three real buttons I rather cheekily stamped two from a mini set of stamps that I won when DT member Lauren set the challenge a couple of weeks ago.The real one is by Papermania.I tied a length of silver cord around the card to finish.

This card started out as a tribute to ‘Pig in Space’ but once I created the porthole I was thinking Wallace and Gromit in a ‘Grand Day Out’ and finally ended up landing on ‘Button Moon’.As you can see from my choices I’m a very mature and well balanced individual!!

Lisa x

To in-springity and beyond!

This was last weeks entry for the Let’s Get Stamping challenge at Craftbubble.

DT member Rosie set this sketch:

The twist was ‘Stationery items’.

I’ve had these Banana Frog Retro Space stamps a little while but hadn’t got round to using them – slap my wrists!!But I knew exactly how to tackle the twist incorporating them.If you’re anything like me you keep an ever growing mound of junk ‘just in case’.So I hit upon an idea that gives movement to the spaceship.First I stamped the planet and spaceship in different colours of Memento ink.I coloured the stars and dots on the planet and the rivets on the spaceship with Metallic Silver Promarker.I used a selection of Promarkers to colour the rest of the ship to match the K & Co papers.I used Spellbinders Impressabilities Circle on a piece of Core’dinations Whitewash card then sanded it lightly.I cut  the countdown number strip from the same sheet of paper and mounted it onto silver mirri board.I also threaded a length of ball chain I found in my junk across the middle.I cut a bookplate from some more mirri card and added the stamped word, from the same set, and some brads.I cut out and mounted the planet with foam tape.Next I cut out the spaceship and fixed it to the card :

Can you tell what it is yet?

I cut down a spring from the inside of a used up pen.Boy it was a tough job  – but hey someone had to do it.I used silicone glue to adhere it.

I have to admit when creating all the elements I wasn’t too sure if  they would all work together. But I do have to say I was pleased with the results.I hope you agree.
