Pastels?It’s a breeze!

cypdt21stapril¬†**Please click on the pic for a clearer view. For some reason they always look a little blurry on the blog page ūüė¶ ¬†**

At¬†Craft Your¬†Passion¬†this week the challenge is¬†Pretty¬†Pastels. We have the fabulous¬†A Day For Daisies¬†as our¬†sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don‚Äôt forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

I decided to have another crack at watercolouring thinking it would tie in with the softer palette of the challenge ūüôā I chose the beautiful Breeze in Spring¬†by¬†A Day For Daisies¬†and printed her on watercolour paper.Next I used AquaMarkers and a slightly damp paintbrush to delicately shade her.Bit unsure of my skill level here but she’s such a sweet ,tender thing I don’t think it matters too much ūüėČ I pulled out some pretty pastel papers and pink card to go with her,a trio¬†of my favourite punches¬†(that I don’t use often enough!)¬†¬†along with a few pearls and my new bow die that arrived in the post just in time for me to use o this card ūüėÄ

Gift of the Gab :)

jsldt5thapril

It’s the beginning of a another new challenge at Just Some Lines. This month we’re looking forward to seeing your Think¬†Spring creations. To play along you need to use a¬†Just Some Lines¬†image to enter and you could win a digi if you‚Äôre picked as part of the Top 3¬†ūüôā¬†

Here’s the beautiful Gab – Just Gab¬†by Just Some Lines¬†.Doesn’t she look like she’s enjoying Spring?! ¬†I thought I’d brush up (pun intended!) on my watercolouring skills – or lack of them ūüėČ The purpose of the exercise was supposed to be practising with Distress Inks but as I pulled the boxes out the cupboard I found my AquaMarkers. To think I’d actually forgotten I had them!So out they came to play. The beauty of these is when it came to the fine detail I just used the pens to fill it in.No worrying about going over the lines or bleeding into what’s already painted.I did actually blend out a little on her headband and ribbons with out having to change to a smaller brush ūüôā Not really sure how it turned out but Gab’s that pretty I’m sure it doesn’t matter ūüėČ For the card I just layered up these gorgeous papers that I try not use too much, cutting and embossing a frame ¬†for her,and adding some piercing details to the papers. The sentiment on the stamped and die cut button seemed pretty apt ūüôā Some baker’s twine and buttons have been used to decorate.

Supplies :

Blooming Marvelous

Just a reminder that the 2 Different Colouring Mediums challenge at Just Some Lines is still running until 11:59 EST Thursday 20th September.Plenty of time to join us then! You could be in the running for a super prize and if you play along with a Just Some Lines image  you can choose to create an Anything Goes project or follow the theme.

For my card I’ve used the super cheeky and extremely adorable¬†Petit Pot – getting in¬†from Just Some Lines. After printing onto watercolour card I coloured with my AquaMarkers.Once I’d left it until it was¬†completely dry I added extra depth to the shadowed areas¬†¬†using Polychromos pencils.I allowed the texture of the card to really come through on the pot and shaded in the background lightly to let it show again.I tried hard to get some transparency to the wings by softly colouring so it as if you are seeing through them. This is something I’ve¬†never¬†done before and think it turned out pretty well.I kept the layout quite simple so as not to detract too much¬†attention from the image but couldn’t resist making a cute little pinwheel ūüôā Not only is ¬†it¬†¬†a sweet addition it’s also fully functional.

Can you see?….It’s moved! In my vast button collection I actually have some that have one large single hole in the middle.Perfect!I made up and adhered the whole of the card front,¬†pierced a hole¬†where I wanted the pinwheel to be,put the legs of the brad through the button and attached the pinwheel. After that I glued the whole lot onto the card base.Although it might have been easier to just make ¬†the whole card then add the pinwheel it just makes it a neater job and means the legs of the brad aren’t showing on the inside of the card.I found this sentiment stamp whilst rooting around my stuff and thought it was pretty apt!

Sweet Pickle(berry)!

We have a fabby sketch by Pauline at Willow Sketchie Challenge this week :

Add embellishments and a sentiment wherever you wish.

Don’t forget to stop by the challenge site and check out my fellow DT’s beautiful creations.A truly¬†inspirational¬† bunch.

The image comes from the Polly Pickleberry CD-rom by Willow Designs and has been water coloured using AquaMarkers. The patterned papers and sentiment also come from this jam-packed CD.There’s sooo much to choose from! Not just black and white images. There are coloured images and toppers along with some decoupage too.Loads of pretty papers and sentiments plus some embellishments. If you feel a little unsure about colouring¬†there are some Colour Me Perfect sheets including a list of the ProMarker colours used in the¬†original artwork.¬†For the panel behind the image I chose to use a piece of cheesecloth.I did adhere it with Micro Dots but for¬†extra security and an extra touch,of course,I stapled the corners.I also I added some of my fave paper thread and a butterfly charm.

Supplies :
Image, papers and sentiment : From Polly Pickleberry CD-rom by Willow Designs

For my card I’ve used Hummingbird from Digi Doodle Shop.I wanted to give the bird some real life¬†iridescence. So I dug out my Twinkling H2o’s from the depth of my crafty stash and dusted them down.I think I’m a little out of¬†practice¬†tho’.I prefer my colouring using AquaMarkers on the flowers, beak and illusion of sky in the background.¬†I stamped the greeting underneath the image and cut out using Nesties.I chose the words because as far as I can remember I’ve always been in awe of these beautiful creatures and love to see one in it’s own natural habitat.I’d already¬†decided¬†to team this paper with the image from the start but the whole card¬†ended¬†up a lot more ‘blingier’ than I’d planned. But I think it suits the¬†shininess of the bird.

I’ve used the adorable Under the Tree image from the Walter and Winnie does Christmas CD-rom from Willow Designs and water coloured with AquaMarkers onto smooth white card.I¬†love¬†the¬†effect it gives,a little different to water colour card.I applied Glossy Accents to the baubles and string of lights on the tree. The papers are from the CD-rom as well. Some scraps from a few other cards I¬†made ( the samples for the Create and Craft show).I toned down the red card with the same ¬†AquaMarker I used on the baubles and their party hats.Finished with some gems and a matching greeting.

For full details on how to play along and see the fabulous DT creations please pop along to the challenge site. There’s a voucher to spend online¬†at Willow Designs waiting for one lucky winner too!

For my card I’ve used the delightful Winnie in Earmuffs from the¬†Walter and Winnie does Christmas CD-rom available at Willow Designs.I’ve gone for a slightly different look, well for me anyway,by printing the image onto smooth cardstock and watercolouring¬† with an Aquamarine AquaMarker using a waterbrush.I added some glittery tinsel stuff that was a freebie in a past issue of Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine to add fluffiness to her earmuffs.I cut the panels from some more white card and embossed with a Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder and a Papermania A Silent Night – Snowflakes one.I used the Tim Holtz Paper Distresser around the edges before applying some glitter glue, another Cardmaking and Paper craft mag freebie (from last year!) to carry through the aqua tones.I added some white organza ribbon to pretty it up.
