Love your scraps!

At Craft Your Passion this week the theme is Use Your Scraps. We have the fabulous Stitchy Bear Stamps as our sponsor.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

For my card I’ve used the sweet My Pillow  by Stitchy Stamps available at Stitchy Bear Stamps. She’s been coloured with Copic Ciao Markers and the pillow has been paper pieced. The pink card for the base and mounting the image are left over from another card. The white pieces are off cuts from printing out digi stamps and the patterned papers are cut from the small bits we all save ‘just in case’ then can’t think what to do with them. The buttons are from some of my old pyjamas I threw into a rag recycling bin.So in effect I guess these are scraps too 😉 The sentiment I cobbled together using the first part of a sentiment stamp and some alphabet stamps for the word ‘Hugs’I can’t really take credit for the design as the idea came from an issue of Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine in an article by Dena Concienne.

Thanks a bunch or two!

It’s my turn to host at Willow Sketchie Challenge and this is the sketch I’ve come up with :

The theme is Summer Florals. So anything flowery will do whether it’s the image, papers, flowers or any other floral stash item. You can take a choice of either the sketch or theme.Or really go for it and do both! You could be the lucky winner of a voucher to spend at Willow Designs too! As well as a winner (chosen randomly) there will be a hand picked Top 3 and they will receive a super cute badge for their blog.Don’t forget to stop by the challenge site and check out my fellow DT’s beautiful creations.A truly inspirational bunch.

I’ve used a super cute Walter Owl digi stamp taken from the Walter Owl digital collection by Willow Designs. He’s been coloured with FlexMarkers and fussy cut out. He’s then been shaped and adhered with 3D Glue for some extra dimension.I’ve layered up with some new Papermania Happy Days papers and new Papermania Kraftstax card from the latest DoCrafts Goody Bag along with some Trimcraft Textured card that I treated myself to – well you have to don’t you!I’ve Distress Inked the edges of the papers and afterwards pounced the edges of the card layers with the same piece of Cut n Dry.I shaped the pieces the sentiment is mounted onto, using that as a guide.I added some Blitters, the flowers, from the same Goody Bag and some Raffia Lace Ribbon plus a length of grosgrain ribbon. The Raffia Lace was much lighter in colour originally so that got Distress Inked too.I have to confess the ribbon is a little bit of a cover up job as even tho’ I’d tried hard to remember that the paper had a right way up I didn’t notice until I’d stuck the sentiment on that it was in fact upside down!!Oooopsie!Luckily I’d used wet glue and it hadn’t set so I managed to save it and just make a few  *cough* minor  alterations…

So on to some super news! The  new Walter and Winnie Christmas Stamps are available from Willow Designs to pre-order now!!The stamps can be found in the Clear Stamps section. They’re sooo cute you’ll love ’em!

Here are some sample cards :

Spot the hedgehog!

We have a fabby sketch and the theme of add 3 or more brads or eyelets at Willow Sketchie Challenge this week. Here’s Shell’s sketch :

For my card I’ve used the adorable Colin in the Garden digi stamp from Willow Designs and coloured it with FlexMarkers.I love hedgehogs! The spotty paper is from the Polly Pickleberry Cd-rom also from Willow Designs. The tabs and sign are some Quikcutz dies I got off eBay and they’ve been run through a woodgrain folder in my Big Shot ‘cos I thought it was a good idea 😉 I’ve added brads to the sign and the leaves running down from the top left corner are shaped brads too. All edges have been distressed for a rustic look.I’ve also flipped the sketch. This is intended as  a Father’s Day card for one of my kids to give to their Dad.Yep,I’m getting in early! So the sentiment was chosen not just because the little hedgies are in pots but as a way of saying thanks for helping me to develop into the person I’m becoming too.

Day-sy Dreaming

Anything Goes at Digi Doodle Shop Challenges this week.Everybody’s favourite! Please take a look at the challenge blog for details on how to play along and be in the chance to win a $10 Gift Certificate to spend at Digi Doodle Shop.Don’t forget to check out the wonderful DT work while you’re there.

There is also a special sale going on at the store this month :

Don’t forget the current 99¢ Digi Deal stamps are only available until March 1st and then they will be gone forever! If see something you like grab it while you still have the chance!

I’ve used Daisy Girl from Digi Doodle Shop for my card and water coloured her with Distress Inks.I decide to make a kick stand card. Here’s how it works :

I used a Tonic Edgers 5 Punch I picked up for £2.99!I lined it up my Border Punch System to create the continuous pattern. The image is cut out with a Nestie. The papers are some more scrummy Ooh La La for Him by Mind’s Eye – LOVE ’em!I even used one of the labels from the die-cut sheet to stamp the sentiment on to :

The flower on the front was made using the instructions from this Paper Flower Tutorial on Whimsical World of Laura Bird’s blog.I did use a 1″ circle punch for the purpose of this card.It was a little fiddly and it probably didn’t help that this a thin cardstock rather than a paper but as long as you get your folds as accurate and sharp as you can then you shouldn’t have too many problems.Much the same for all paper folding really.I added a gem brad to the centre. This was another bargain. The pack was only £1.99!

Supplies :
Image : Daisy Girl from Digi Doodle Shop
Colouring medium : Distress Inks
Sentiment : From a 3 Birds box of clear stamps stamped in Coffee Archival Ink

…and this little piggy did lunch!

The challenge at Digi Doodle Shop’s Best is all about ANIMALS/INSECTS.So no matter how great or small any animal will count. You could also be the lucky winner of a $10 Gift Certificate to spend at Digi Doodle Shop.Second and third place get a badge to diplay on their blogs. All three will be in the running to join us as Guest Designers if they wish.Check the challenge blog for full details. Please take a look, while you’re there, at the rest of the DT’s beautiful creations.

Don’t forget there’s 50% off in the store until the end of the month. So why not pop over and grab a few. There’s such a great choice of beautiful images.

I’ve used Let’s Do Lunch from Digi Doodle Shop for my card. They’ve been coloured with Promarkers.I then went over with the Blender pen to soften the colours a little.I also layered up the piggies to add some dimension.

The idea just popped into my head to do this.I don’t know why I always set myself up for these things.I really hate fiddly cutting out!I don’t seem to have a part of my brain that says ‘That’s really not a good idea’!!I coloured the bottom image then coloured and cut out the piglets.Next I coloured and cut out just the middle one.I shaped them with my fingers and adhered them using sillicone glue so that I could vary the height of each piece. If you notice in the pic the feet are stuck down virtually flat. This gave more roundness to their bodies.Just what I set out to achieve – so maybe it was worth it after all!

Supplies :
Image : Let’s Do Lunch from Digi Doodle Shop
