Mushroom with a view

Shaped Cards is the theme at Digi Doodle Shop Challenges this week.So thinking caps on!.Please take a look at the challenge blog for details on how to play along and be in the chance to win a $10 Gift Certificate to spend at Digi Doodle Shop.Don’t forget to check out the beautiful DT work while you’re there.

Don’t forget the special offer this month at the store. The more you buy the more you save!Great way to stock up on your fave digi stamps,eh?

I’ve used the pensive Fairy & Mushrooms from Digi Doodle Shop and coloured her with Copic Ciao Markers. Now I have to admit I coloured the fairy and musrooms first then decided to put the sky in afterwards.I was nervous about messing the whole thing up so I practiced on a piece of scrap and was pretty pleased how it turned out.So what was the first thing I did on the real thing?Picked the wrong pen!!Not only that but it kind of made any other colour I used with it split rather than blend 😦 So out came the trusty Blender pen to save the day.Not on this occasion it didn’t.I even tried softening it with white pastel pencil to no avail.I was happy with everything in the foreground and really didn’t want to start over again so hopefully what’s going on there will detract from my botch job.Mind you the sky was actually looking like that at the time.Any way onto a happier note I love this Nestie I used and am pleased how the card in general turned out.I decided to fold the base in half rather than layer everything one on top of the other and like the look.I even got to play with my new flower punch and leaf die.Yay!

Sweet as can be!

At Willow Sketchie Challenge this week it’s Kate’s turn to present us with a fabby sketch. And here it is :

Pop along to the challenge blog to join the fun!You don’t need to use a Willow Designs image but we’d love it if you did!

This week the DT got to play with the rather scrummy I Love Chocolate from Willow Designs .You get a pre-coloured image and an outline one for you to colour to your heart’s content.Speaking of which I whipped out my trusty ProMarkers for this one and added some clear glaze pen to the chocolate and her boots.

And for an extra touch I iced the top of the chocolate with some Liquid Pearls.Very much like the delicious ‘posh’ chocolates you get. Mind you I haven’t met a choccy I didn’t like !

Here’ a close up :

Shiny shoes or kinky boots?!

I’ve wanted to use the lovely chipboard shapes for a while and grabbed my chance along with some free matching papers from Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine.I used the last tiny scrap of this gingham ribbon that I couldn’t bear to throw out to adorn the tag sentiment. Not sure if the words apply to the recipient or the chocolate!lol.

Mer-ry Christmas!

The challenge this week at Craft Your Passion is Under the Sea/Your Favorite Season. We have the fabulous Simply Betty Stamps as our sponsor.Hop on over to the challenge blog for full details on how to play along.Don’t forget to take a look at DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

The DT were very lucky indeed to be give some new release images to play with. Here I’ve used the cute  Frosty Merkid on my card. He’s one of several adorable Merkids from Simply Betty Stamps.I wanted to try something different so I coloured with Copics (recently won on eBay) on kraft card.I really like how it turned out. Then it hit me!There are quite a lot of areas that should be white!I found my white gel pen handy for the smaller areas but as it’s on it’s last legs I didn’t think it could handle the snowman. So out came the Liquid Pearls. As well as looking pretty it added some texture too.I finished the whole thing off with some Baker’s Twine and die cut snowflakes with some more Liquid Pearls added to the centre.

Now as I’m trying desperately NOT to leave it to the last postal date to hurridly finish my Christmas cards (oh yes,2 years running!) and just ‘cos these images are just sooo sweet I couldn’t help but make another card :

This time I’ve used some Polar White Flower Soft on the trims on her hat and clothing plus a ribbon I ruffled.I’ve added a die cut swirl and button flower threaded with Baker’s Twine. She’s called Tiki Merkid.

Supplies :
Images : Frosty Merkid & Tiki Merkid from Simply Betty Stamps

The power of flowers

There’s a sketch for your inspiration at Digi Doodle Shop Challenges this week. Please take a look at the challenge blog for details on how to play along and be in the chance to win a $10 Gift Certificate to spend at Digi Doodle Shop.Don’t forget to check out the beautiful DT work while you’re there.

Here’s Karen’s fab sketch :

I’ve made  a different card to the style I normally make using of the free Word Art sentiments from the Blossom set available at Digi Doodle Shop. It’s been printed onto pearlescent pink card.I’ve used layers of this plus some white pearlescent card. The papers I found in a Summer sale at my local craft warehouse. The top piece is a white flocked vellum and the bottom one is a double sided paper.I’ve used various die cut shapes along with a Martha Stewart punch.I finished it with some grossgrain ribbon and some little pearl flowers that I rediscovered whilst rummaging through my stash.I thought the sentiment compilmented the wording on the flower. If you can’t quite make it out click through for a bigger pic.Sorry there seems to be a bit of glare of the card from my daylight lamp.

Supplies :
Image : Blossom Word Art freebie from Digi Doodle Shop
Sentiment : Hero Arts Anytime Messages clear set stamped in Stazon
Papers & Card : Flocked vellum and double sided paper by Papermania,White and Pink pearlescent card from stash

A spot of napping

It’s time for another Willow Sketchie Challenge brought to you by Sharon this week. For details on how to play along and join the fun please visit the challenge site. You don’t need a Willow Designs image to take part but of course we’d love it if you did!Don’t forget to check out the DT’s fabulous work too.

Here is her wonderful sketch :

There is also a recipe to follow :

1.Something blue
2.Something dimensional
3.Something patterened

Here I’ve used Taking a snoooooze digital stamp from Willow Designs. All colouring has been done with ProMarkers and I’ve added a touch of Glossy Accents to his glasses.I’ve gone all frugal and just used the one sheet of patterned paper and coordinated it with some leftover scraps of card.In fact I ended up making a little 5 x 5 card to accommodate them!My something blue is the bow made from some string cut from a price tag.The dimension comes from the paper bow and the way parts of the card are raised using foam pads. You could even count the Glossy Accents too.

Here are some closer views :

He so reminds me of my DH of a weekend when he’s supposed to be mowing the lawns!

Supplies :

For my card I’ve used Cute Puppy Dog Digtal Stamp  from AiFactory and I’ve coloured it with ProMarkers. I’ve layered up the image on some freebie papers and some coordinating card. Some waxed cord has been wrapped around the middle and I’ve added a Prima Hydrangea with a centre made of pearls. This puppy is just so adorable.

I’m sad as this is my last card for Aifactory. These have been the sweetest images to work with.It was a hard choice but sometimes something has to give 😦 I’m grateful to Tammy who picked me for the team and also to Mia who creates the most wonderful images.I’ve had a blast!

It’s all change over there too.We have a new DT and 2 new GDT’s for this month. Please take the time to welcome them and admire their gorgeous creations.

For my card I’ve used the rather cute Some Bunny Loves You from JLJ Designs. You get the bunny, banner and word art in the set.I’ve coloured them with ProMarkers and added Glamour Dust to all the hearts. The frame on the sentiment is white inside but I also coloured it with ProMarkers to tie in with the colours on the card and of course I had to add Glamour Dust to that too!The papers are from a freebie pad that arrived with Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine.I had to make something using them as soon as they dropped through the door (I subscribe).I embellished it with some bright pink organza ribbon that I stole from my DD1.She came home from a friends Birthday party with a boxed cupcake tie up with it.The things we do in the name of stash!
