Quite a journey!

We’d like to see your projects with Stripes this week at Digi Doodle Shop’s Best. It’s also a special week as our new DT members will be sharing their fabulous first creations too.Pop along to the challenge blog for all the info on how to play along and be in for the chance of winning a $10 Gift Certificate to spend at Digi Doodle Shop. With the specials going on this month now would be a great time to stock up on some beautiful images.

For my card I’ve used T Bird.A great image for those difficult men(young and old) in our lives! Now,I was originally going to colour this with ProMarkers so had printed it onto smooth white card. Then just like that I changed my mind and used Distress Inks.Normally I would print on watercolour paper for this technique but I thought I’d give it a go anyway.Well I was lucky ‘cos they worked like a dream and there wasn’t any pilling like you sometimes get when you add water into the equation.Phew!I got away with it!I wouldn’t recommend it though as cardstock can be so unpredictable.I added dimension and shine with some Glossy Accents on the  windscreen and headlights. Here’s a closer view :

The background paper is so fitting as it has a map printed onto it.As well as my patterned paper stripes I added a panel with some embossed ones too.I cut the car out the front to give the appearance of it zooming out of the piece of card.

This card is for my Nephew who has been very poorly lately. He was admitted to hospital after collapsing at home a few weeks ago. They decided he had internal bleeding but didn’t have the right equipment to find where it was and the staff  had to admit they’d never had to scan someone so young. So after a week of being pumped full of blood and made very comfortable they managed to move him to the John Radcliffe Hospital. He had to be admitted to the ward and was booked in to have a camera take a look.He had to wait 3 days to have this done.If he had been an Out Patient he would’ve had to wait 2-3 weeks!!And they want to make more cuts to the NHS?!!Anyway they found an ulcer was the cause of all the problems.Still he is now on medication and is on the road to recovery.Thankfully.

Time for cake!

We are looking for Party Animals at AiFactory Challenges this week!So any Birthday projects featuring animals are acceptable. You have until Wednesday 20th April  11.59 to upload your project.Stop by the challenge site to check out full details on how to play anwhat you could win.Don’t forget to take a look at the wonderful DT creations while you’re there!

N.B. The store has recently had an overhaul and it takes time to put all the images back up.Please be patient the owner is doing all she can.

For my card I’ve used 2 inch Circle Cupcakes from AiFactory along with one of the owls that were featured here.I resized the cupcake set by 50% and cropped one of the owls from the set and resized that.As there are 12 cakes in the set I decided to set them around the owl like a clock face.I then added it to an easel card.I found these gorgeous pink papers amongst my hoard of paper pads to match the owl.I also went girly so I can give this to my daughter for her birthday later in the year.I printed the sentiment out myself.I just love using these cliparts the colours are so vibrant and really pack a punch! They’re versatile too as they could be used as cupcake topers, labels for party bags or even to decorate party favours.

I was so lucky to get to play with this adorable pair. They’re Marley & Charlie Cheese available from Ellephantastic.I’ve coloured the little cuties with Promarkers.I decided to make my first double twisted easel card as I thought it would be quite fitting for the challenge. It was suprisingly easy too.Of course once I’d made the stand up elements I made to make something to prop them up with.Because I’d used yellow in keeping with the cheese and gave it a Spring feel what better than daisies!Plus I used two layers of ribbon. So as you can see there are quite a few twos on my card!!

For my project I’ve used Merry Little Egg Heads Digital Stamps. These have got to be just the cutest eggs ever!I can think of soooo many uses for them too. There are 8 in the set and I’ve managed to use 7 in my project.Feel a bit mean leaving one out but I just couldn’t think where else I could fitted him in!I have to confess the design isn’t my own.I got the inspiration from here and the tutorial from a very talented young lady,Heidi-Mari.Although I measured in imperial rather than metric. It still fun to make tho’!

Here are some more views:

This is the reverse side of the sticky thing in the middle. Not sure what the real name would be for this!

This is the tag I made.It comes plain.I added the text.

These are pics of all the eggs around the sides.I coloured them all with Promarkers. The papers are a free download from Cardmaking and Papercraft Magazine.I’ve made this for my kids. For the purposes of the photo I’ve just grabbed some sweeties out of the cupboard but I’m going to buy something more eggy and chocolatey (of course!) before I give it to them.

April showers…

 …bring forth May flowers.

As it’s the first Monday of the month we have our usual Anything Goes challenge at Craft Your Passion. We also have 4 fabulous sponsors Mami Doodles,Digital Delights by Louby Lou,The Charm Barn and Crafter’s Companion. So to be in for the chance to win play along.Full details on the challenge site.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT and GDT’s beautiful work while you’re there.

I was lucky enough to get to work with Rainy Day.Isn’t she a real cutie? She’s been coloured with Polychromos that have  blended out with low odour oil thinners using a paper stump. It may be difficult to pick up but I gave the raindrops and puddles a coating of Glossy Accents for a watery effect.I had planned on applying some Sakura Clear Glaze Pen on her wellies and mac as it’s flatter than GA but no matter how hard I tried I couldn’t get the ink to flow. That’s what you get for not using stuff often enough I suppose 😦 I chose these cheerful papers with the saying in mind and given the nature of the card I was creating. The sentiment was computer generated by me and I used thread for a change to ribbon to suspend it.I punched some daisies in some of the pink paper and added some clear acrylic dew drops. These ones aren’t the expensive cardmaking ones.I bought these Wedding table decoration ones from eBay in a larger quantity and for a lot less. They’ve been adhered with GA as not only does it dry crystal clear but it ensures they remain firmly on your card!
