Oriental Blossom

Over at the Willow Sketchie Challenge this week DT member Heidi set the sketch along with a recipe of 3 buttons, ribbon and 2 papers. This is the sketch:

The obvious choice for me was to use a different paper either side of the strip across the middle. But to add more interest I decided to cut the front of the card in half  and round the top corners using a punch. The image I’ve used is from the Oriental Delight download by Willow Designs and can be found here.As there are 3 little ladies to choose from I always find it difficult to pick one but I do think this one is my fave – I just love those buns on top of her head.I printed onto semi-glossy photo paper and coloured her with Promarkers.I’ve never tried this before and was really pleased with the intensity of colour I could achieve.I cut her out with an Eastern Ovals Nellie’s Multi Frame die and mounted her onto an Eastern Rounds diecut piece (when sticking this to the front I had to remember to only apply adhesive to the bottom part. Not something I always do!!) I also printed the backing papers onto the same type of photo paper. They are a free download from Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine and are designed by Sharon Armstrong, who also created the image download. The card I’ve used is Papermania Textured, the buttons are also Papermania and the ribbon is from my stash.
