Jolly Day Out!

I saw these Mabel Lucie Attwell stamps in Craft Stamper magazine a while ago and just fell love with them.I bought a bumper pad of K & Co papers from QVC and thought how well this stamp would go with these ones.So I paid an online visit to The Artisic Stamper where they just happened to fall into my basket along with two others from the range.

It has been coloured with Promarkers and highlights have been added with a white gel pen.Tea Dye Distress ink was applied around the edges with a piece of  blending foam.I did the same to the map piece of  backing paper.The number eight block is cut from a sheet from the same pad.All of these are matted onto some Papermania Textured card and all edges have been distressed with the Tim Holtz tool.A length of black waxed cord and a charm that says ‘Laugh’ provide the final touches.

This card was made for my son.Can you guess how old he was?!

Another Kawaii Kokeshi

Over at the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge there is a sketch to follow.

This is the sketch:

I’ve rotated the sketch to accommodate the stamp I wanted to use.After creating two cards with characters from the Kawaii Kokeshi set by Banana Frog I just had to make a third! As this is quite a solid stamp I inked up this little cutie with Rhubarb Stalk and Tuxedo Black Memento and then coloured her in with Promarkers,adding white gel pen highlights to the eyes.The paper is K & Co onto which I’ve layered two strips of dark pink raffia lace.The two shades of green card are Core’dinations So Mod.All ovals have been cut using Nestabilities and the flowers are created using punches with brads from my stash in the centres.They have been mounted using a glue dot,1mm then 2mm foam pads to build up the different heights.And yet another sentiment from the Hero Arts Anytime Messages.

Pretty in pink!

This is my entry for Caardvarks Page Map Challenge.

Here is the sketch to work from:

I don’t know why but I seem to struggle when it comes to girly cards.Some people just seem to have the knack.Maybe it’s because I’m not that girly myself?

This card is also a different style to what I usually make as it has just a sentiment and no image.However I’m actually very pleased with the results – I hope others agree.

I chose this gorgeous K & Co distressed look paper to begin with and worked everything else around that.The bottom of the pastel pink Papermania Textured card has been edged with my new Martha Stewart Zig Zag punch.I then scored some vertical lines on it.After (too) much deliberation I decided to punch some daisies out some darker pink card from the Core’dinations So Mod pack to compliment the same shade found in the paper.I placed some Papermania brads through the centres of the flowers and attached them using the holes already made by the punch.Next I cut some Classic Ovals using Nestabilities and stamped the sentiment in Momento Rose Bud ink as I thought black would be to harsh.It’s another from Hero Arts Anytime Messages.A couple more darker pink Papermania brads  just to add the finishing touch.

I’ve just joined the Monthly Friendship Card Swap group at the Craftbubble forum so this seems an ideal card to send.I hope my partner likes it.

Lucky Cat

This is my first entry at Easy Craft Projects – The Challenges.

A sketch has been set by DT member Katie:

I’ve used the Lucky Cat ( or Maneki Neko ) from Banana Frogs’ Kawaii Kokeshi set this time,some more K & Co paper and Papermania Textured Card as it was still to hand from my last card.I decided to colour him the tradtional way using Promarkers.His bell and coin have been coloured with the Metallic Gold pen.Because it is opaque rather than transparent like the other markers I had to very carefully draw the details back in with a Fineliner.Ooooh … not a time for shaky hands!I usually find the more delicate I try to be the more decidedly wobbly I become.The Inverted Scallop Circle has been edged too – but that’s because I got pen on my finger and smudged it across the edge.So now you know it wasn’t a clever part of the design.The turquoise piece has been embossed,using Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder,then sanded.The sentiment is from Hero Arts Anytime Messages.I found them in a sale and just loved the words and phrases.The piece of wooly fibre,which I thought apt for a cat and the colours were perfect ( no pun intended!),was a freebie that came in an order from Craft Obsessions.Finishing touches are some We R Memory Keepers eyelets and Papermania brads.

Kokeshi

A little something I created for the Stamp Something sketch challenge.

Here’s the sketch:

As you can see I followed it exactly.This is the first outing of this gorgeous little lady.She’s from the Kawaii Kokeshi set by Banana Frog.I managed to track them down here.Coloured with Promarkers.I’ve also drawn white gel pen highlights in her hair which I then covered in clear glaze pen for added shine.The papers are K & Co and the red card is Papermania Textured.Edges have been distressed and I’ve been playing with some new ‘toys’.The red card has been passed through my Big Shot with Spellbinders Pebbles Impressabilities and then sanded.The left hand edge of the card the image is stamped on has been punched with E K Success Dotted Wave Edger Punch.

Craftbubble friends cards

I made these for some of my friends on Craftbubble using Daisy and Dandelion A Winter’s Tale paper pad and Forever Friends stamps.The bear holding a parcel isn’t really a Christmas stamp but I thought I’d get away with it as you give gifts at Christmas.The other was a freebie from issue 18 of docrafts Creativity! Magazine.All images are coloured with Promarkers and I was really pleased with the results.Quite funny really as I coloured these quickly as I was in a hurry.I paper pieced the parcels and hats and sprayed with Crafters Companion Spray and Sparkle in silver and gold before sticking in to place.The sentiments,die cuts from the pad,got the same treatment.I cut some scallop borders from Sizzix Deorative Strip Lace Edging.The coloured card is from my stash and the pearls are from a mixed bag available at Bunny Zoe’s Crafts.

There was actually another card to this collection but I was waiting for someones’ address so I photographed these before I posted them.I then posted the last one once I had the address and totally forgot to take a picture.What a complete duh-brain!

Ready to go…

Here are the majority of the Christmas cards I made just in time to post.I really don’t know where last year went!

As you can probably tell from the background this was the first day of the heavy snow – the kids were delighted as it meant they started their holidays early.

Because I make all the cards I send to family and friends I tend to pick a theme and mix things up a bit with different papers,stamps and embellishments.

All the papers from a HOTP pad and the coloured card is left over from last years makes.So is most of the ribbon/fibres (I just needed to top up supplies a little) and all the brads,gems and buttons I used.I did however treat myself to some new stamps.They are from an eBay seller called CraziBoutStamps and she has opened an online shop too.These clear stamps are a little unusual because you have to use adhesive to stick them to your acrylic block but they are a lot firmer and give a very clear impression.I find some polymer stamps far too squishy and it can take a few attempts to get the amount of pressure just right.I chose these as I thought the simple yet elegant design wouldn’t need too much tweaking from me and so make it easier and quicker to make my cards.It doesn’t show in the photos but I added a little glitter.

More Polar bears and scrummy papers

Here are the cards I made for my three younger children to give to their teachers and classroom assistants.

I’ve broken my golden rule – naughty me!!I usually try to make my cards one-offs but time was of the essence so I ended up making them all the same.Still it gave me the excuse to use lots of these most delicious papers and the cute Polar bear.Again I’ve used Summertime Designs Winter Gifts kit but this time it’s the Snowflakes and Blue Dots.The latter has been printed onto card to mat the image and sentiment on.I selected the Promarkers I thought would compliment the colours of the papers best and used Circle and Inverted Scalloped Circle Nestabilities.The scalloped edge pieces were cut with Sizzix Decorative Strip Lace Edging on my Big Shot.I’ve also been to work with my trusty Paper Distresser.

Just dotty about this bear!

Happy New Year!

As you can see it’s a while since I last posted anything.I was just so caught up in all the preparations for Christmas and the event itself, of course.It didn’t help that my DH decided to give me the early present of the most stinkingest cold I’ve ever had.Still I managed to soldier on and cook Christmas lunch and feed and water our guests over the festive period.As well as find time to spend with my babies as they were on school hols.

Anyway back to cards – my favourite subject!

I made this as a Sketchie Challenge for the Let’s Get Stamping  group at Craftbubble ages ago.

This is the sketch with the twist being to use one colour paper only with black,white or cream.

I came across this gorgeous paper quite by accident whilst nosing around someone elses blog.They are designed by Summer Driggs who very generously allows her digital scrap kits to be used free for personal use.You can find them on her blog here.

For this card I have used Polka Dots Blue from the Winter Gifts kit.I chose to make the circle layer the front of the card.

Both stamps are by Imaginisce and I still can’t get over the fact that these stamps are only 99p each!!The Polar bear has been coloured in Promarkers – what else.The sentiment has been stamped in a mixture of Momento ink and Cool Aqua Promarker.Remembering to clean the stamp quickly as the markers are alcohol based.The oval Nestie has been edged with the same shade to give the illusion of an added layer.All edges have been given the Tim Holtz Paper Distresser treatment and a few square gems complete the icy feel to the card.
